Kerry Kuenzi is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She researches and publishes on public and nonprofit management topics including nonprofit executive careers, public and nonprofit education, and collaboration and networks. Kerry has her Ph.D. in public affairs from the University of Colorado, Denver.

Amanda J. Stewart is an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University in the School of Public and International Affairs, Department of Public Administration. Her research centers on nonprofit organizations, including leadership continuity, career development, and organizational capacity. Amanda received her Ph.D. in publication administration from American University.

Marlene Walk is a faculty member at the School of Business and Economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Germany). She previously was an Associate Professor at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI. Her research interests are human resource management, volunteering, and volunteer management as well as the impact of organizational change on employees. Marlene received her Ph.D. from the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jo’ann L.M. Holder, Ph.D. research assistant

Jo’ann L. M. Holder is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Public Administration at North Carolina State University. She holds a MA in Public Affairs and a BA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She has work experience in both the local government and nonprofit sectors where she served as an advocate for underserved populations. She prides this experience as inspiring her research which focuses on social equity, public engagement, and citizen participation in political life. In her spare time, Jo’ann enjoys exploring the outdoors with family and friends.

Abby Klippel, graduate research assistant

Abby Klippel is a graduate of the Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in nonprofit management at IUPUI. She completed her undergraduate degree in Management at IUPUI. She is passionate about aiding youth who age out of foster care in making a successful transition into adulthood. Before pursuing her master’s degree, Abby worked for a nonprofit organization, Foster Success, where she worked side by side with older foster youth to empower them to promote change within the foster care system and find their voice.

Shannon McGovern, Ph.D. research assistant

Shannon McGovern is a PhD student in the Department of Public Administration at North Carolina State University. Her research interests focus on the role of the public sector in natural hazard mitigation and disaster management. Shannon’s research interests are interdisciplinary by nature and her educational journey has taken her beyond the Department of Public Administration. She has earned graduate certificates in both Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Disaster Resilient Policy, Engineering, and Design. She earned her MPA from North Carolina State University and her Bachelor’s Degree from UNC Chapel Hill.

Dylan Russel, Ph.D. research assistant

Dylan Russell is the executive director of Lead for North Carolina at the UNC School of Government and a co-founder of Lead for America. Lead for North Carolina has placed 50 students in high-impact fellowships in local government across the state. He is an adjunct instructor at UNC-Chapel Hill and teaches courses on state and local government, government recruitment practices, and sustainable placemaking. Dylan earned a B.S. in education from Appalachian State and is a graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill MPA program. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Administration at North Carolina State University.

Ashabul Alam, undergraduate research assistant

Ashabul Alam is an undergraduate student at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI majoring in policy studies and minoring in civic leadership. He is a research assistant working with The Project for Research on Organizations, Management, and Publicness Theory (PROMPT). Ashabul is determined to work toward his goal to advocate for human rights (food security and clean water) in developing countries such as his home country, Bangladesh, through international policy.

Gage Beck, undergraduate research assistant

Gage Beck is in his second year at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay studying Public Administration with emphases in Emergency Management and Public and Nonprofit Management. He is currently assisting with research focused on nonprofit organizations. Gage hopes to continue participating in research throughout his undergraduate and prospective graduate career.

Emily Peterson, graduate research assistant

Emily Peterson is entering her second year of graduate school at the O’Neill School for Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. She is studying for her Masters of Public Affairs with a concentration in nonprofit management. With a concentration in nonprofit management, she completes coursework in public administration intersection with nonprofits, strategic nonprofit HRM, global leadership, program evaluation, corporate social responsibility, and the advancement of embedded sustainable decision-making in American governance. During the school year, Emily serves as a graduate assistant for an O’Neill faculty member, assisting with research in areas pertaining to volunteer retention and sector attachment in the nonprofit space.
